Tim Carney is an Associate Director at Certum Group, where he sources and underwrites a broad range of litigation finance and insurance opportunities. Since joining the firm in 2022, Tim has built extensive experience evaluating the merits of legal claims and damages theories across commercial disputes, mass torts, and class actions.
In addition to his underwriting work, Tim helps lead Certum’s artificial intelligence initiatives, supports the structuring and negotiation of complex financial transactions, provides consulting services for valuing litigation assets, and develops new strategies for emerging mass torts.
Tim began his career as a commercial litigator with Norton Rose Fulbright in Dallas, Texas, representing high-profile clients in business disputes and class actions across diverse industries. He earned a B.S.B.A. in Economics from the University of Florida and a J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law, where he was a teaching assistant for the Legal Research and Writing program, an editor of the
Texas International Law Journal, and a member of the Mock Trial team.
