Ross Weiner

Legal Director

Ross Weiner is a Legal Director at Certum Group, where he focuses on underwriting both insurance and litigation finance risks. Over the past seven years, he has helped place tens of millions in risk transfer policies, including class action settlement insurance, judgment preservation insurance, and adverse judgment insurance. Ross regularly writes and speaks at industry and legal conferences about both class actions and issues affecting the litigation funding and insurance markets.

Prior to joining Certum Group in 2018, Ross spent 9 years as a litigator in the New York City office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP, first as an associate and then as a partner. At K&E, Ross worked on cases on both sides of the “v.” On the plaintiff side, Ross represented plaintiffs in a contractual earnout dispute that went up to the Delaware Supreme Court. And on the defense side, he represented defendants in trade secret, appraisal, false advertising class actions, and contract cases in both state and federal court.

Ross graduated
summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Colgate University and earned his J.D., Order of the Coif and with high honors from the George Washington University Law School, where he served on the Law Review. Ross was recognized as a New York Super Lawyers Rising Star from 2015 to 2018.

Ross lives and works in New Canaan, CT, where he resides with his two children, both of whom argue better than he ever did.
